![]() While basically functional, Lion DiskMaker for Mac lacks many features that would make it useful to anyone other than those users who need a bootable USB or new CD of their Mac OS. DiskMaker X Pro is an application developed using AppleScript that you can use to build a drive including multiple bootable macOS Install partitions. Find the Terminal app in the Utilities folder of your Applications folder. For this article, I used a 2TB USB hard disk drive erased and formatted as Mac OS Extended and given the name Installer. The program also offers the option of creating a bootable DVD of the OS, which would be a welcome option for users who buy secondhand Macs or do not have their original recovery CD. The program did install the OS image on the test USB, but booting from this device was not tested separately. I've now tried to use DiskMaker X 6 rc3 to make a USB key for macOS Sierra 10.12.1 and it worked I found our that it worked because it's a USB 2key - it still does NOT work with USB 3keys. While not easily completed with native programs, users may still want the ability to create a bootable USB of their Mac OS.
